Book – Chicago Bibliography
General Tips
- Place of Publication List the first place of publication given on the title page. No state or country is usually necessary, but if the location of the city is not clear, use a comma and then the two-letter abbreviation for the state or the country.
- Associations, corporations, agencies, government departments and organizations are considered authors when there is no single author
- Publishers: Write the name of the publisher given on the title page. You may shorten the publisher, for example, using "Knopf" for Alfred A. Knopf, Inc.

- When citing an entire book that lists editors on its title page, insert the editor's name in the place where the authors' names are now, followed by , ed (if only one editor), , eds (if more than one editor is listed)

- Cite as you would any other book. Add "Translated by " and follow with the name(s) of the translator(s).

Chapter in an edited book – Print version
- When citing an individual chapter (including instances when you cite a direct quote from the chapter), put the page numbers of the whole chapter after the book title or editor.

- If possible use DOI over URL
- For books downloaded from a library or bookseller indicate the format at the end of the citation (e.g. Kindle edition, PDF e-book, Microsoft Reader e-book, Palm e-book, CD-ROM).
